The Waterloo Bay Hotel is surrounded by many interesting tourist attractions for all ages. Whether you’re a keen golfer, a seasoned fisherman or a family looking for a great holiday destination with beautiful parks and pools, look no further than the Waterloo Bay Hotel.

Our Local Area

Enjoy some of the local attractions that Wynnum has to offer. Wynnum esplanade is only a short 500m stroll from the hotel where you can explore the unique bayside parklands on the foreshore. With a multitude of play areas, man-made sandy beaches, swimming and wading pool and over 5km of pedestrian and cycling tracks, there is something for everyone.

St Helena Island

St Helena Island is Queensland’s most historic island. This beautiful National Park is located four kilometres from the mouth of the Brisbane River and is only a short boat ride from Manly. Australia’s Alcatraz at St Helena Island National Park housed hundreds of society’s outcasts in colonial Queensland’s foremost maximum security prison for over 60 years.

Fort Lytton National Park

Fort Lytton National Park is at the mouth of the Brisbane River, a short trip from the Waterloo Bay Hotel. Fort Lytton was built in 1880-1881 to protect Brisbane from enemy attack and was the focus of Queensland's defence activity for 40 years. This coastal fortification can still be viewed by the public with its original walls and huge machinery. Fort Lytton is open every Sunday from 10am to 4pm and most public holidays. Self-guided tours are free. 90 minute guided tours by volunteers run between 10.30am and 2pm.

Creative Markets

Spend Sunday at the Manly Foreshore Park relaxing along the harbour side and browsing through the many stalls specialising in creative arts, crafts and hand-made products. For a true taste of Wynnum life the Creative Markets are a must.

Jan Powers Farmers Markets

The Manly waterfront comes alive every third Saturday of the month with the Jan Power's Markets. Sample fresh local fruit and veg, seafood, meats, cake, bread, olives, spices, oils, honey, curry powders, healthy smoothies, French delicacies and of course some of the best coffee in the area.

Boating & Fishing

Moreton Bay is the ultimate boating and fishing playground, offering many adventurous day trips around the Bay on either sailing or motorboats. You can enjoy the thrill of a boom-net ride; stop off to go swimming, canoeing, windsurfing and snorkeling, or relax with a spot of fishing or bird watching.

Moreton Bay and Islands

Moreton Bay stretches from Bribie Island in the north, to the Southern Bay Islands in the south. Waterloo Bay Hotel is the perfect launch point to Moreton Bay with some of the world’s best diving, sand tobogganing, surfing and quad biking. Stroll through the quaint coastal villages or visit the second and third largest sand Islands in the world; Stradbroke and Moreton Islands. These picturesque islands offer crystal clear water, fascinating marine life, freshwater lakes and sandy beaches as far as the eye can see. The long stretches of unclaimed sand are perfect for beach camping and four-wheel driving. On the island you can snorkel at the Wrecks and even hand-feed dolphins.

Wynnum Golf Club

Wynnum Golf Club is located in beautiful Bayside Brisbane and meanders over 31 hectares of picturesque parkland. Their 18 hole championship golf course provides a challenge for players of all levels of ability. Social players are also very welcome.
